Job Summary Respiratory Therapist Registered (RT PEDS) in respiratory therapy involves caring for pediatric, adult, and neonatal patients in a high-volume critical care setting. The role involves providing treatments and ventilator management, primarily in ICU and medical units, with a focus on critical care experience and proficiency with specialized equipment.

Certifications/Education/Experience:

BLS (AHA), Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) via NBRC, Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) via NBRC; minimum two years of experience in a large (300+ beds) critical care facility.

Schedule:

12-hour night shifts, 1830-0700, with a minimum of 36 hours per week.

Shift Notes:

Nights.

Department Notes:

Uses AARC point system for treatments (~26-28 points), caring for general med, intermediate, and ICU patients.

Equipment:

Servo U, Servo i, LTV ventilators; ResMed S9, Fisher Paykel heated high flow devices.

Leadership:

Presence of a Respiratory Manager/Supervisor/Lead on each shift, serving as a resource but not taking assignments.

In-House Medical Staff:

Hospitalist and Intensivist available 24/7.

Orientation:

First 12 hours include EPIC training, vent review, IPV, and specialty review; subsequent days with a preceptor.

Additional Requirements:

Active IL license or confirmation of application process, experienced in large critical care facilities, no floating in respiratory therapy, no call required.
