Many residents in skilled nursing and long-term-care facilities live with COPD, chronic respiratory disease, oxygen dependence, retained secretions, weak cough, and other respiratory deficiencies. The nurses and caregivers supporting these residents work hard, but they do not always have an on-site Respiratory Therapist available to provide specialized assessments, treatments, education, and clinical guidance. That is where you can make a real difference. As a PEL/VIP Respiratory Therapist, you will use your specialized skills to help residents breathe more comfortably, recognize respiratory problems earlier, support families who have questions or concerns, and give facility staff the respiratory expertise they need to care for medically complex patients.
