A Respiratory Therapist assists patients who have trouble breathing because of a chronic respiratory illness, trauma, or other conditions. Administers tests to diagnose breathing problems, performs treatments to help patients breathe easier, or sets up breathing equipment such as ventilators. Works closely with physicians and other healthcare workers, and may also assist in providing emergency care to patients suffering from heart attacks, drowning, or shock. Works in hospitals; may also provide care and counseling to patients in their homes.
Critical access hospital located within 45 minutes of Kansas City is seeking a Respiratory Therapist to join the team. Under the supervision of the Cardiopulmonary Director and Medical Director, the respiratory therapist is responsible for providing basic and advanced Respiratory Care services to infant, pediatric, adult, and geriatric patients. The therapist plans, implements, and evaluates the effectiveness of Respiratory Care in all patient care departments. Therapy services and testing are performed within the scope of practice of the Cardiopulmonary Department and within the licensure guidelines as defined by the state of Kansas.
