A Respiratory Therapist assists patients who have trouble breathing because of a chronic respiratory illness, trauma, or other conditions. Administers tests to diagnose breathing problems, performs treatments to help patients breathe easier, or sets up breathing equipment such as ventilators. Works closely with physicians and other healthcare workers, and may also assist in providing emergency care to patients suffering from heart attacks, drowning, or shock. Works in hospitals; may also provide care and counseling to patients in their homes.

A Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) provides advanced respiratory care services to patients with acute and chronic cardiopulmonary conditions. As a key member of the healthcare team, the CRT works under the direction of a physician to assess, diagnose, treat, and manage respiratory disorders for patients across the lifespan, from neonates to the elderly. This role requires advanced knowledge and skills to support patients with complex respiratory needs, playing a critical part in their recovery and overall health management.Qualifications:
Associate's degree in respiratory therapy from an accredited program. Respiratory Therapist Active KY licensure to practice as a Respiratory Therapist required. Clinical experience in respiratory care, particularly in acute or critical settings, is preferred. Current American Heart Association BLS certification or obtained within 90 days of hire date. Current American Heart Association ACLS certification or obtained within 90 days of hire date Current American Heart Association PALS certification or obtained within 90 days of hire date. Current NRP certification or obtained within 90 days of hire date. Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) credential from the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) if applicable. Proficiency in advanced respiratory care techniques, critical thinking, excellent communication, and a patient-centered approach to care. Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage complex clinical situations. Compassionate and empathetic approach to patient care. Dedication to continuous learning and staying updated on advances in respiratory therapy.Language Skills:
Able to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.Education:
Associate's Degree in Respiratory Therapy required.License:
/Certifications:
Current CRT or RRT license in state of practice; BCLS required; ACLS, PALS, and NRP preferred.EEOC Statement:
