The ed Respiratory Therapist (RRT) provides comprehensive care under medical direction or clinical protocols for patients with cardiopulmonary, neurological, or other organ system dysfunctions. The role involves working across various departments, including Inpatient and Emergency Room (ER), Pulmonary Rehabilitation and Diagnostics, and Neurodiagnostic (EEG and NCV).
Key Responsibilities:
    Patient Assessment and Care:
    Assess patients, collect clinical data, perform diagnostic tests, apply therapeutic interventions, and collaborate with the healthcare team to establish and achieve therapeutic goals.
      Pulmonary Diagnostics:
      Operate pulmonary function testing equipment, perform arterial blood gas analysis, and prepare reports for physician interpretation.
        Cardiac and Pulmonary Rehabilitation:
        Develop, coordinate, and implement exercise programs to restore function, prevent disability, and support recovery. Follow guidelines from AACVPR and ACSM.
        • Neurodiagnostic (EEG/NCV): Perform routine and complex EEG and NCV procedures to diagnose nervous system disorders.
        Operate specialized equipment to record and interpret brain and nerve activity, providing data for physician analysis.
        Additional Responsibilities:
        • Support both inpatient and outpatient care settings.
        • Communicate effectively with colleagues and external contacts to share work-related information.
        • Continuously seek to improve procedures to save time and reduce costs.
        The RCP plays a crucial role in helping patients reach their highest level of function and maintain a good quality of life.
        Education Requirements:
        • Graduate of an approved Respiratory Care Practitioner program.
        • Associate's degree required; Bachelor's degree (BS/BA) preferred.
        Licenses and Certifications:
        • Active license from the Maryland Board of Physicians (MPBQA).
        • ed Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential from the National Board of Respiratory Care (NBRC).
        • Current CPR certification.
        • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification required within six months of hire.
        • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification preferred.
        Experience:
        • No prior experience required.
        New graduates are encouraged to apply.
        Salary Range:
        Minimum 34.62/hour - Maximum 57.19/hour. Compensation will be commensurate with equity and experience for roles of similar scope and responsibility.
