A Respiratory Therapist assists patients who have trouble breathing because of a chronic respiratory illness, trauma, or other conditions. Administers tests to diagnose breathing problems, performs treatments to help patients breathe easier, or sets up breathing equipment such as ventilators. Works closely with physicians and other healthcare workers, and may also assist in providing emergency care to patients suffering from heart attacks, drowning, or shock. Works in hospitals; may also provide care and counseling to patients in their homes.

Job Description

Job Overview Fairview is hiring a Respiratory Therapist to join our Respiratory Therapy team at our Lakes Medical Center location in Wyoming, MN. We're offering a $9,000 sign-on bonus! The Respiratory Therapist is responsible for providing diagnostic and therapeutic services as prescribed by a physician. Follows defined treatment protocol according to department policies. Collects, assesses, interprets, and intervenes as appropriate in the care of neonatal, pediatric, adult, and geriatric patients. Ensures patient welfare and safety standards during treatments.
Schedule :
This position will be working 0.6 FTE (48 hours every two weeks). The shift length will be 12 hours on the night shift. There is currently an every 3rd weekend requirement.
Shift differential incentives:
$4.00/hr for nights $2.00/hr for weekends As a Respiratory Therapist, you will be responsible for: Perform Pulmonary Function test on ages 5 years and older. Perform 6 minute walk tests, ABG's, Methacholine testing, Pre/Post spirometry, DLCO, MIP/MEP, MVV, Pleth, nitrogen washout. Assessing patient needs and identifies expected outcomes. Implementing Respiratory interventions based on plan of care. Evaluating care and the patient's response to interventions and expected outcomes. Delivering care as delegated by physician/authorized practitioner to assigned patient population, or individual patient. Using communication strategies to achieve desirable outcomes. Operating and maintaining all Respiratory Care equipment. Required Qualifications
A.A./A.S.
in Respiratory Care/Therapy or related field Respiratory Therapist License issued by the Minnesota Board of Medical Practice Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) issued by the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC). Basic Life Support (American Heart Assoc or Red Cross) Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) within 6 months of hire Pediatric Life Support (PALS) within 6 months of hire Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) within 6 months of hire Preferred Qualifications
B.S./B.A.
