Mercy is seeking a skilled Respiratory Therapist to deliver high-quality respiratory care to patients across diverse clinical settings. In this flexible GIG/Per Diem role, you will assess, treat, and monitor patients with cardiopulmonary disorders, administer oxygen and aerosol therapies, manage ventilators, and perform diagnostic tests. Responsibilities Assess, plan, and deliver respiratory care for patients with acute and chronic cardiopulmonary conditions. Administer oxygen, aerosol, medication, and chest physiotherapy treatments per provider orders and protocols. Set up, manage, and troubleshoot invasive and noninvasive mechanical ventilation. Obtain and analyze arterial blood gases, adjusting therapy based on results and clinical status. Respond to respiratory emergencies and rapid response calls, providing airway management and life support. Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and allied health professionals to optimize patient care plans. Educate patients and families on respiratory equipment, medications, and disease self-management. Maintain accurate, timely documentation in the electronic medical record. Ensure equipment is cleaned, tested, and maintained according to infection control and safety standards. Participate in quality improvement initiatives and adhere to Mercy policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
