Job Description

A Durable Medical Equipment(DME) Respiratory Therapist is a licensed clinician who delivers, sets up, and manages home-use respiratory equipment like
CPAP/BIPAP
machines, oxygen concentrators, and ventilators. They bridge the gap between hospital and home, educating patients and monitoring therapy compliance.
Key Responsibilities Equipment Setup & Delivery :
Safely set up, test and troubleshoot medical equipment in patients' homes or clinical offices.
Patient Education :
Train patients and caregivers on proper equipment usage, maintenance, safety protocols, and adverse reactions.
Clinical Monitoring :
Track patient compliance data(like PAP therapy hours), conduct assessments, and adjust the care plan in accordance with physician orders.
Healthcare Coordination :
Act as a liaison between the patient, their doctors, case managers, and insurance providers.
Requirements Education & Licensing :
An associate or bachelor's degree in respiratory therapy.
Credentials :
Must hold a Certified Respiratory Therapist(CRT) or Registered Respiratory Therapist(RRT) credential, alongside a valid state license.
Experience :
Previous clinical or home-care experience(typically 1-2 years) is often preferred. Work Environment Typically split their time between an office/clinical base, driving to patients' homes, and conducting telehealth/remote follow-ups. Requires a valid driver's license and a clean driving record, as travel to regional patient residences is a frequent requirement.
