Job Description

Category Respiratory Therapist Job Type Contract Seeking an experienced and compassionate professional to deliver expert respiratory care at a highly regarded teaching hospital specializing in pediatric and adult patients. This contract opportunity offers the chance to provide essential therapy services in a Level 1 Pediatric Trauma Center with advanced care resources.
Schedule and Hours:
12-hour night shifts, 7:00 pm - 7:00 am 36 hours per week Weekend rotation: every other weekend No on-call requirement Travel staff will work 75% of holidays
Key Qualifications:
Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) or Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) Active North Carolina licensure
BLS, PALS, ACLS, NRP
certifications required (per Resource Team standards) Minimum of 2 years of recent respiratory therapy experience, including proficiency with
IPPV/NIPPV
ventilators Experience across ED, PICU, Peds CVICU, Peds PCU, and general med/surg floors preferred Will consider first-time travelers with sufficient clinical background Permanent residence must be at least 50 miles from the home unit
Role Responsibilities:
Deliver advanced respiratory care across all patient populations within the facility—primarily neonate to pediatric, with occasional adult care when needed Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams and respiratory leadership to ensure comprehensive, high-quality patient support Utilize EPIC EMR and department-specific ventilators (detailed equipment discussion during interview) Float within the facility's respiratory care units; not assigned to outside facilities due to specialty needs Participate in required departmental and facility orientation
