Job Description

Category Respiratory Therapist Job Type Contract Deliver specialized respiratory care in a dynamic hospital environment with a focus on pediatric and neonatal patients, alongside opportunities to support adult care as needed. This contract role operates within a large academic medical center featuring a Level 1 Pediatric Trauma Center, certified stroke and chest pain units, and a strong commitment to clinical excellence.
Schedule/Hours:
12-hour night shifts (19:00 - 07:00), totaling 36 hours per week Every other weekend rotation No on-call requirements Expectation to cover 75% of holidays Schedule cycles every 6 weeks
Qualifications:
Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) or Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) Active North Carolina licensure required Current BLS, PALS, ACLS, and NRP certifications (Resource Team requirements) At least 2 years of recent respiratory therapy experience, including ventilator (IPPV/NIPPV) competencies Experience across ED, PICU, Pediatric CVICU, Peds PCU, and general medical floors Proficient with electronic medical records (EPIC) Open to first-time travelers Must reside at least 50 miles from the facility
Responsibilities:
Deliver comprehensive respiratory care for neonates, pediatric, and adult patients as needed across multiple units Administer and manage ventilator therapy and other advanced respiratory support modalities Collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams and report to Respiratory Leadership Maintain detailed and accurate records using EPIC Participate in orientation, including two days of dedicated departmental training Comply with specialized equipment protocols as discussed during interview
