The Respiratory Therapist will provide comprehensive respiratory care to patients across various settings, including inpatient units, outpatient clinics, emergency departments, intensive care units, and specialized trauma centers. This role is vital in supporting patient recovery by managing respiratory conditions, ensuring optimal oxygenation, and assisting with airway management. The ideal candidate will possess a strong foundation in hospital medicine, critical care, and emergency response, committed to delivering high-quality patient-centered care. Duties Assess patients' respiratory status through detailed evaluation of vital signs, oxygen levels, and pulmonary function tests. Administer respiratory therapy treatments such as nebulizers, oxygen therapy, and aerosol medications in accordance with physician orders. Operate and monitor ventilators and other respiratory support equipment for patients in critical care settings. Manage airway interventions including intubation, extubation, and airway suctioning for patients in
ICU, PICU
(Pediatric Intensive Care Unit), or trauma centers. Respond promptly to emergency situations involving airway compromise or respiratory distress by implementing advanced airway management techniques. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop individualized care plans for patients with acute or chronic respiratory conditions. Conduct patient education on respiratory therapies, medication administration, and lifestyle modifications to improve health outcomes. Maintain accurate documentation of assessments, treatments, and patient responses in compliance with hospital protocols. Ensure adherence to safety standards such as Basic Life Support (BLS) and other relevant certifications. Stay updated on physiology knowledge, medical terminology, and advancements in pulmonology to enhance clinical practice. Qualifications Certification as a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) from an accredited program is required. Proven experience in hospital medicine with exposure to emergency medicine, ICU (Intensive Care Unit), PICU (Pediatric Intensive Care Unit), or Level I/II trauma centers. Demonstrated proficiency in airway management techniques and ventilator operation. Strong understanding of physiology, anatomy knowledge related to the respiratory system, and medical terminology. Experience working in inpatient settings with critical care expertise; outpatient or clinic experience is a plus. Knowledge of medication administration related to respiratory therapies and acute care procedures. Ability to perform patient assessment accurately and respond effectively in high-pressure situations. Familiarity with hospital protocols for vital signs monitoring and pulmonology practices. Excellent communication skills for effective collaboration within multidisciplinary teams across diverse healthcare environments including geriatrics and pediatrics. Valid licensure or certification required by local regulatory agencies; BLS certification mandatory.
