What they do
A Respiratory Therapist assists patients who have trouble breathing because of a chronic respiratory illness, trauma, or other conditions. Administers tests to diagnose breathing problems, performs treatments to help patients breathe easier, or sets up breathing equipment such as ventilators. Works closely with physicians and other healthcare workers, and may also assist in providing emergency care to patients suffering from heart attacks, drowning, or shock. Works in hospitals; may also provide care and counseling to patients in their homes.

Job Description
- Acts as a patient advocate and upholds patient rights
- Assures all patients are correctly identified prior to providing and/or documenting care
- Documents in a clear and legible manner
- Accurately documents verbal orders with read back
- Recognizes and integrates patient special needs and individualizes care
- Maintains a therapeutic relationship with patients, family and significant others while providing care Minimum Requirements
- NJ Respiratory License, RRT or CRT
- BLS, (ACLS, and PALS preferred)
- Knowledge of electronic medical records and medical terminology
- Intermediate computer skills, excellent organizational, communication and interpersonal skills
- Must be able to walk and stand for extended periods with the ability to lift, push and pull Salary Range - $57.75 hourly (Premium Rate) Additional information
