A Respiratory Therapist assists patients who have trouble breathing because of a chronic respiratory illness, trauma, or other conditions. Administers tests to diagnose breathing problems, performs treatments to help patients breathe easier, or sets up breathing equipment such as ventilators. Works closely with physicians and other healthcare workers, and may also assist in providing emergency care to patients suffering from heart attacks, drowning, or shock. Works in hospitals; may also provide care and counseling to patients in their homes.

Know Your Team:
Lovelace Westside Hospital provides care to Albuquerque's Westside and Rio Rancho, including a 24-hour emergency department and a wide range of inpatient and outpatient surgical capabilities such as Ear, Nose, and Throat (ENT), bariatric, and orthopedic service lines. Responsibilities Coordinates the safe delivery, appropriate and effective respiratory treatment to critical and non-critical patients in accordance with current standards of practice, physicians' orders, staffing levels and organizational policies. Adheres to policy, procedures, and regulations to ensure compliance and patient safety.
Qualifications Job Requirements:
Associate's Degree in Respiratory Therapy Program. Related experience may be substituted for related education. Current NM Respiratory Care License. BLS certification must be obtained within 14 days of hire or transfer into the role and prior to providing direct patient care.
Preferred Job Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in a related field. One (1) year of related experience. AARC Membership. National Specialty Certification. PALS, NRP, or ACLS may be required by the facility/department.
