What they do
A Respiratory Therapist assists patients who have trouble breathing because of a chronic respiratory illness, trauma, or other conditions. Administers tests to diagnose breathing problems, performs treatments to help patients breathe easier, or sets up breathing equipment such as ventilators. Works closely with physicians and other healthcare workers, and may also assist in providing emergency care to patients suffering from heart attacks, drowning, or shock. Works in hospitals; may also provide care and counseling to patients in their homes.

Job Description
Experience:
12 months of experience with 3 months worked in the last 12 months. Experience with Cerner is preferred.Requirements:
Candidates must have a license (required for submission). This role may require floating to additional units and locations Local & travel allowed. No current placement allowed atProgram:
Medical Solutions Plus Program- Humboldt General Hospital.

- Pediatric, adult, and NICU experience preferred.
Unit Details:
- Covers inpatient, outpatient, ER, floor, ICU, and OB; may assist with cardiac and pulmonary rehab as needed.
- Cares for all patient populations and attends high-risk deliveries and C-sections; no NICU on site.
- Performs ABGs, EKGs, PFTs, stress tests, and breathing treatments.
- Assists the MD with intubation and may work toward doing so independently.
- Day shift may at times be the only RT in house; night shift is the only RT each shift.
- Uses Hamilton C1 vents, Philips Respironics V60 BiPAPs, Vapotherm, and Airvo.
- Hospitalist or intensivist in house 24/7.
Shift & Scheduling:
- Weekend requirements as scheduled.
- Holiday requirements as scheduled; seniority and requests considered.
- No call.
Certifications:
BLS (Basic Life Support) RRT (Registered Respiratory Therapist) or the alternative certificationCRT ACLS
(Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program- 8th Edition) PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
