A Respiratory Therapist assists patients who have trouble breathing because of a chronic respiratory illness, trauma, or other conditions. Administers tests to diagnose breathing problems, performs treatments to help patients breathe easier, or sets up breathing equipment such as ventilators. Works closely with physicians and other healthcare workers, and may also assist in providing emergency care to patients suffering from heart attacks, drowning, or shock. Works in hospitals; may also provide care and counseling to patients in their homes.

Posting Registered Respiratory Therapist - Part Time Specializes in the application of scientific knowledge and theory to practical clinical problems of respiratory care. Assumes primary clinical responsibility for all respiratory care modalities specific to his or her clinical area, including responsibility involved in supervision of students enrolled in respiratory care programs. The Respiratory Therapist may be required to exercise considerable independent clinical judgement in the respiratory care of patients under the direct or indirect supervision of a physician.EDUCATION, TRAINING, EXPERIENCE, CERTIFICATION AND LICENSURE
Graduation from a CoARC accredited program in respiratory care with an Associate's Degree required. Bachelor's Degree preferred. Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) with the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) required and licensed by the State of New York. Participates in orientation as well as continuing education as mandated by the State of New York and updates and maintains knowledge and skills related to specific areas of practice expertise. Completes population specific competency annually on populations served as identified in scope of care and service.SPECIAL EQUIPMENT, SKILLS OR OTHER REQUIREMENTS

$35.60 - $47.40 Pay is based on experience, skills, and education. Exempt positions under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) will be paid within the base salary equivalent of the stated hourly rates. The pay range may also vary within the stated range based on location.
