Part-time Position:
The Student Respiratory Therapist supports a wide variety of services including assisting in internal transports, positioning and moving patients, replacing oxygen cylinders, keeping work environment clean and assisting in all necessary paperwork with appropriate supervision of an RRT. This position is Part-Time not benefit eligible working 8 hours daily with up to 16 hours weekly on varied shifts. This position reports to the Director of Cardiopulmonary.
Qualifications:
Current license to practice in the state of Ohio required BLS required ACLS preferred, if not, must be obtained within the first 6 months of hire NRP preferred, if not must be obtained within the first 6 months of hire PALS preferred, if not, must be obtained within the first 6months of hire Job Responsibilities Student will work alongside and be supervised by an RRT Ability to remain calm and function appropriately in emergency situations Ability to prioritize and complete multiple tasks Demonstrates effective communication skills with all team members, patients, and staff. Perform routine and emergency respiratory therapy procedures, such as complete patient treatment and rounds, start new treatments, set up equipment ordered during shift, perform arterial blood gas studies, maintain ventilator protocol, maintain proficiency in oximeter Demonstrate knowledge to meet needs of population served, neonate to geriatric Respond to cardiac/respiratory arrest and disaster situations Participate in C-section deliveries and newborn care Complete EKGs as assigned Maintain equipment cleaning and testing Physically able to perform the functions of the position All other duties assigned
