A Respiratory Therapist assists patients who have trouble breathing because of a chronic respiratory illness, trauma, or other conditions. Administers tests to diagnose breathing problems, performs treatments to help patients breathe easier, or sets up breathing equipment such as ventilators. Works closely with physicians and other healthcare workers, and may also assist in providing emergency care to patients suffering from heart attacks, drowning, or shock. Works in hospitals; may also provide care and counseling to patients in their homes.

Overview:
Sentara Health is currently recruiting for Registered Respiratory Therapists to work at Sentara Halifax in South Boston, VA. This role is a Full Time, Night shift position. Up to $20,000 Sign On Bonus for Full Time Qualified Candidates! Up to $10,000 Sign On Bonus for Part Time Qualified Candidates! Experienced and New Graduates May Qualify Relocation, Moving Allowance and Housing Allowance available to candidates outside of geographic area. The Registered Respiratory Therapist builds upon the overall pulmonary management in identifying and implementing physician directed respiratory care interventions for an individual or a group of patients. Works cooperatively with nursing and other health care team members for professional respiratory care practice for all patients ranging in ages from neonates to adults in all clinical and ambulatory settings. Responsible for the appropriate age specific assessment and treatment of patients. May have access to, or oversight of Protected Health Information (PHI) in the course of carrying out position duties. Education Associates or Bachelor's degree required. Non degreed applicants with RRT credentials prior to January 1, 2006 and graduates from a military RT program with RRT credentials will also be considered.
