What they do

A Respiratory Therapist assists patients who have trouble breathing because of a chronic respiratory illness, trauma, or other conditions. Administers tests to diagnose breathing problems, performs treatments to help patients breathe easier, or sets up breathing equipment such as ventilators. Works closely with physicians and other healthcare workers, and may also assist in providing emergency care to patients suffering from heart attacks, drowning, or shock. Works in hospitals; may also provide care and counseling to patients in their homes.

Clinical Assessment & Care Planning:
Evaluate patient-specific needs to develop, implement, and dynamically adapt specialized respiratory care plans.
Advanced Modality Management:
Monitor and manage complex respiratory treatments, utilizing high-tech equipment and advanced clinical modalities.
Outcome Evaluation & Optimization:
Analyze patient responses to medications and therapies to continuously optimize clinical practices and outcomes.
Patient Advocacy & Family Education:
Educate families on respiratory health conditions while connecting them to vital community support resources.
Emergency Leadership:
Act as a core, decisive member of rapid response and emergency medical resuscitation teams. What minimum qualifications you'll need Licensure / Certification /
Registration:
BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted. Respiratory Care Practitioner credentialed from the Texas Respiratory Care Practitioners Certification Program obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required. Respiratory Care Practitioner provisional/temporary license will be accepted until license is issued. Respiratory Therapist specializing in Registered credentialed from the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required.
Education:
High School diploma equivalency with 2 years of cumulative experience OR Associate's degree/Technical degree OR 4 years of applicable cumulative job specific experience required. Life at
