The second year Respiratory Care student works to perform basic respiratory modalities and arterial blood gases. The Respiratory Student - Second Year, will support the Department Director, Clinical Supervisor, Lead, and other staff of the Respiratory Care Services Department, Pulmonary function Lab. Qualifications High School Diploma or equivalent required. Must be enrolled and attending an AMA approved formal respiratory training program or recent graduate having applied with the TMB and awaiting activation of Respiratory Therapy Licensure. Must have completed at minimum, first year of an AMA approved formal respiratory training program. BLS (Basic Life Support) Healthcare Provider course according to RQI program guidelines must be completed during new hire orientation prior to working in a clinical setting. Must obtain and maintain current TMB Respiratory Therapist licensure upon graduation from the program. Must be able to identify and competently address needs of population served. Ability to follow written and verbal instructions. Ability to communicate with patients, families and staff. Ability to evaluate and interpret information and make independent decisions.
