A Respiratory Therapist assists patients who have trouble breathing because of a chronic respiratory illness, trauma, or other conditions. Administers tests to diagnose breathing problems, performs treatments to help patients breathe easier, or sets up breathing equipment such as ventilators. Works closely with physicians and other healthcare workers, and may also assist in providing emergency care to patients suffering from heart attacks, drowning, or shock. Works in hospitals; may also provide care and counseling to patients in their homes.

Job Description

JOB DESCRIPTION
Provides professional, entry level Respiratory Care to patients in varying states of health and illness through assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of the patients health needs. The Ambulatory RT I provides direct care to patients and families, under the direction of a preceptor as appropriate. AARC Clinical Practice Guidelines guide the delivery of respiratory services by this individual. The position demonstrates dedication to professional growth and development and to the continuous improvement of patient care.
EDUCATION
Associate's Degree required. Bachelor's Degree preferred. Graduate of accredited Respiratory Therapy Program Licensed as a Respiratory Care Practitioner in the state of Vermont. Registered Respiratory Therapist by the NBRC. Current
BLS, ACLS
preferred.
EXPERIENCE
Respiratory Therapist with 6 months experience.
