1 Description American Traveler is seeking a Physical Therapist Assistant with acute care hospital experience and active WV licensure for a 13-week assignment at a Level 1 Trauma Center and major teaching hospital. Details 390-bed acute care hospital with services including heart surgery, orthopedics, and general medical care Level 1 Trauma Center and major teaching hospital; member of the Council of Teaching Hospitals and Health Systems (COTH) Unit focuses on adult and geriatric patient population Caseload of 16 units of treatment per day 5x8 day shift, 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM; schedule options include M-F, Wed-Sun, or Tues-Sat No float or on-call requirement Weekend requirement depends on chosen schedule (M-F schedule requires no weekends) Documents using Cerner Requirements Active WV PTA license required to start; pending state license will be accepted for consideration BLS certification required Minimum 1 year of PTA experience required Acute care hospital experience required Travel experience preferred; first-time travelers with strong specialty experience will be considered Proficiency with equipment including bed alarms, call lights, crutches, gait belt, hospital beds, rolling walkers, and sit-to-stand lifts Experience with assessments including AROM/AAROM/PROM, arousal and attention, assistive devices, body mechanics, environmental barriers, pain assessments, sensory response, strength testing, and vital signs Skills required include home exercise programs, lifting and transfer, patient and family education, safety and injury prevention, and billing Two manager or charge nurse references from within the past 2 years required for consideration Driver's license and SSN card required for consideration Flu vaccine required during flu season (October 1 - March 31); medical exemption with documented allergist or physician record accepted Candidates must reside more than 100 miles from the facility; candidates within 75-99 miles may be submitted for facility approval Additional Information Assist patients with physical rehabilitation under the direction and plan of care established by the supervising Physical Therapist Patient population is adult and geriatric, with cases spanning orthopedics, cardiac, and general medical conditions Preferred equipment experience includes Hoyer lift, lower extremity prosthetics, sliding boards, soft/hard collars, specialty beds, and supplemental O2 Orientation takes place on Mondays every other week, with department unit orientation on the first day Any scrub color is acceptable except royal blue, maroon, or forest green Parking garage is complimentary for travelers Former permanent employees of this facility are not eligible to return as travelers until 2 years after their last day of permanent employment RTO requests are accepted with no restrictions but must be included on the profile at the time of submission COVID vaccine is not required
