Summary:

The Respiratory Therapist is responsible for providing specialized respiratory care to patients, including the assessment, setup, and monitoring of respiratory equipment provided by the DME company. This role involves working closely with patients, caregivers, and healthcare providers to ensure that respiratory therapies are delivered safely and effectively. The Respiratory Therapist plays a critical role in improving patient outcomes by providing expert guidance, education, and support in the use of respiratory equipment and therapies. Sleep medicine/PAP experience is strongly preferred. We are specifically seeking an RT with experience in sleep-disordered breathing and PAP therapy, including CPAP, BiPAP/Bilevel, ST, and ASV . Experience with patient education, mask fitting, troubleshooting, compliance monitoring, and interpretation of PAP therapy data is highly valued.

Key Responsibilities:

Patient Assessment and Care:

o Assess patients' respiratory needs and develop appropriate care plans in collaboration with healthcare providers. o Conduct patient evaluations, including reviewing medical histories and conducting physical assessments to determine respiratory therapy needs. o Set up and monitor respiratory equipment, such as ventilators, CPAP/BiPAP machines, oxygen concentrators, and nebulizers, ensuring proper function and safety.

Equipment Setup and Training:

o Deliver and install respiratory equipment in patients' homes or healthcare facilities, ensuring that all equipment is set up correctly and safely. o Provide patients and caregivers with comprehensive training on the use, care, and maintenance of respiratory equipment. o Ensure that patients and caregivers understand how to operate the equipment and are comfortable using it independently.

Patient Education and Support:

o Educate patients and caregivers on respiratory conditions, therapies, and the importance of adherence to treatment plans. o Offer ongoing support and troubleshooting assistance to patients experiencing issues with their respiratory equipment. o Monitor patient compliance with therapy and provide follow-up care as needed to ensure optimal outcomes.

Clinical Documentation:

o Maintain accurate and up-to-date clinical records, including patient assessments, care plans, equipment setups, and follow-up notes. o Ensure that all documentation complies with company policies, HIPAA regulations, and industry standards. o Submit required documentation in a timely manner to support billing, insurance claims, and regulatory compliance.

Collaboration and Coordination:

o Work closely with healthcare providers, case managers, and other members of the care team to coordinate respiratory care and ensure continuity of care. o Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings to discuss patient progress and adjust care plans as necessary. o Collaborate with the company's clinical and operational teams to ensure that respiratory services are delivered efficiently and effectively.

Quality Assurance and Compliance:

o Ensure that all respiratory equipment and therapies are provided in compliance with local, state, and federal regulations, including DME-specific requirements. o Participate in quality assurance programs and initiatives to monitor and improve the quality of respiratory care services. o Stay informed about advancements in respiratory care and incorporate best practices into patient care.

Qualifications:

Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Respiratory Therapy from an accredited program. Current state licensure as a Respiratory Therapist (RRT or CRT) required. Minimum of 2-4 years of experience in respiratory therapy, preferably in a home care or DME setting. Strong knowledge of respiratory care procedures, equipment, and therapies, including ventilators, CPAP/BiPAP, and oxygen therapy. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to educate and support patients and caregivers. Proficiency in using clinical documentation systems and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook). Knowledge of compliance requirements related to respiratory care, including HIPAA and DME regulations.
