A Speech Language Pathologist diagnoses and treats speech, language, and swallowing disorders in patients with a variety of conditions. Helps patients improve their ability to make sounds or use language, or develop non-spoken means of communication. May specialize in working with patients of a certain age group, or treat speech problems resulting from a condition such as a stroke or cleft palate. Works in schools, hospitals and other healthcare facilities and works closely with physicians, psychologists, social workers, and other therapists.
Job Summary We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) to join our dynamic healthcare team. In this role, you will provide comprehensive speech and language therapy services to geriatric individuals. Your expertise will help improve communication abilities, enhance quality of life, and support patients with speech, language, voice, fluency, and swallowing disorders. You will collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams, families, and caregivers to develop personalized treatment plans that foster meaningful progress and empower patients to achieve their communication goals. Duties Conduct thorough assessments of speech, language, cognitive-communication, voice, fluency, and swallowing functions using standardized tests and clinical observations. Develop and implement individualized speech-language therapy plans tailored to each patient's unique needs and goals. Deliver engaging therapy sessions in our skilled nursing facility. Collaborate with families, caregivers and healthcare professionals to ensure cohesive care strategies and effective communication support. Monitor patient progress regularly; adjust therapy techniques accordingly to maximize outcomes. Document all evaluations, treatment sessions, progress notes, and discharge summaries accurately in Electronic Medical Records (EMR) or Electronic Health Records (EHR). Educate patients and families about speech-language disorders, treatment options, home exercises, and strategies for ongoing communication development. Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings to coordinate comprehensive care for individuals with complex needs or disabilities. Qualifications Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited program; current state licensure or certification as an SLP required. Proven experience working with adult populations preferred (skilled nursing). Strong knowledge of anatomy, physiology related to speech and swallowing functions; ability to perform comprehensive speech and language evaluations. Familiarity with medical terminology and the ability to interpret medical records related to patient care. Experience working with individuals with speech impairments across a variety of conditions including articulation disorders, language delays, voice disorders, fluency issues, and swallowing difficulties. Proficiency in using EMR/EHR systems for documentation; excellent organizational skills for maintaining accurate records. Ability to collaborate effectively within multidisciplinary teams including audiologists, occupational therapists, physicians and other healthcare providers.
