IMPERIAL UNIFIED SCHOOL DISTRICT SPEECH-LANGUAGE PATHOLOGIST
Description of Position Access students for speech and language development levels; provide information for program development and student placement; improve students' performance; and provide information on child development and/or issues on specific students to instructional personnel. Duties and Responsibilities 1. Assesses students' communication skills (e.g., articulation, language, fluency, voice, etc.) for the purpose of determining their speech and language deficits and developing recommendations. 2. Consult with teachers, parents, other personnel and/or outside professionals for the purpose of providing requested information, developing plans for services and/or making recommendations. 3. Facilitates meetings (e.g., IEP conferences, parent meetings, in-services, etc.) for the purpose of developing plans and/or providing information regarding students' functional goals. 4. Instructs students for the purpose of implementing goals for remediation of speech and language deficits. 5. Prepares documentation (e.g., evaluations, observations, progress, contacts with parents, teachers and outside professionals, etc.) for the purpose of providing written support, developing recommendations, and/or conveying information. 6. Researches resources and methods (e.g., intervention and treatment techniques, assessment tools and methods, community resources, etc.) for the purpose of determining appropriate approach for students' speech and language services. 7. Screens students for purposes of determining the need for further individualized assessment.
Supervision:
Under the direct supervision of the Director of Special Education/District Psychologist and the general supervision of the Superintendent.
Position Qualifications:
1. Clinical-Rehabilitative Services Credential 2. Master's Degree preferred 3. Certification by the American Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology Association preferred 4. California Licensure preferred 5. Valid California Driver's License and evidence of insurability
Experience Required:
Prior job related experience preferred.
Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities:
1. Be able to communicate effectively, orally and in writing. 2. Ability to sit for prolonged periods, complete a case study and develop an individual education plan, work independently, be flexible and work under time constraints, work effectively with staff, parents, students and community. 3. Significant physical abilities include lifting/carrying, reaching/handling, talking/hearing conversations and other sounds, near/far visual acuity/visual accommodation.
Requirements / Qualifications
Applicants must possess appropriate valid California Clinical/Rehabilitative Services Credential. Applicants possessing CLAD, BCLAD, SDAIE, and/or LDS certification are preferred.
