We are committed to making education and job training skills accessible to all. We offer classes for students ages 3 to 80+ including Digital Innovations, English as a Second Language, Adult High School Diploma, an award-winning Preschool and Charter Elementary School, and after-school and summer programs. PUENTE is proud to be part of the Boyle Heights neighborhood, a primarily immigrant community, having served over 100,000 students in our history. PUENTE Charter School is a program of PUENTE Learning Center. The Charter School offers elementary grade-level students a family-centered, technology-based learning experience designed to help children meet and exceed Common Core State Standards mastery and build a solid foundation for lifelong academic achievement. Reporting to the Director of Special Education, the Speech Pathologist in the PUENTE Charter School and will provide specialized speech-language pathology services and will work in a community where children, parents, teachers, and administrators are actively involved as partners in teaching and learning. This part-time role provides an excellent opportunity to apply expertise in a supportive environment dedicated to student growth and development. The role will assume responsibilities including, but not limited to, the following: Responsibilities Develop and implement individualized speech-language therapy plans for students. Collaborate with educators and parents to support students' communication development. Collaborates with Director of Special Education. Conduct assessments, monitors progress including report writing and IEP attendance throughout the school year. Works closely with teachers, parents, and special education staff to integrate communication strategies into the classroom. Participate in team meetings and maintain accurate records of services provided. Evaluate student communication skills, including articulation, language delays, fluency, and voice disorders, to determine eligibility for services. Develop, review, and implement IEPs for students, including setting goals and monitoring progress. Provide individual or group, in-person therapy services to students in the school setting. Maintain accurate, timely records and documentation in compliance with district and state regulations. Professional Development Model and promote positive interpersonal communication and critical thinking skills. Assume responsibility for professional growth which may include, but is not limited to, attendance at conferences, meetings, observations, and in-service training. Leadership Act as a role model and resource for students and other staff members. Demonstrate and encourage creativity, flexibility, and teamwork. Be willing to assume responsibilities outside of the classroom in order to fulfill the vision of the charter. Have excellent attendance, punctuality, and overall work ethic. Qualifications A Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology or Communication Sciences and Disorders, speech language pathologies, or a related field is required. A valid California Speech-Language Pathology Services Credential (SLPSC) Credential from CTC is required. A valid California Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) license is required. ASHA certificate of competence is a plus. Hold a Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) in Speech-Language Pathology. Understanding of communication disorders and best intervention practices for children. Knowledge of Welligent software is preferred Minimum of 1-2 years experience in a school setting is required Strong communication and organizational skills Applicants should be technology literate and comfortable incorporating technology into instructional programs. Bilingual (English/Spanish) candidates are preferred. Previous school-based experience, specifically with elementary school populations, is highly preferred. Must have an interest in becoming part of a small, dedicated team that works to meet rigorous academic outcomes, take part in parent-participation projects, cooperate in a variety of school-community events, and assume responsibilities both within and beyond the classroom. Available for occasional evening and weekend hours may be required to participate in school functions and to attend a variety of meetings.
