Job Description

Position Title:
Speech Language Pathologist FLSA Status:
Full-time, Exempt Reports to: Non-Public School Director Position Summary The Summa Academy SLP will develop Summa's speech and language programs, services, and team to facilitate the personal, social, and intellectual development of students with special needs at Summa Academy. To respond to the unique and individual communication needs and abilities of our students, the Speech Language Pathologist will directly serve our students and work closely with the staff and administration to design a Speech program at our premier Bay Area Non-Public Schools in
Pleasanton and Livermore, CA Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Organize and provide speech services to our students as dictated by their IEP Develop speech and language skills programs, goals and interventions to facilitate the personal, social, and intellectual development of students. Establish a positive learning environment and respond to the individual needs of each student. Build a team of SLPs and SLPAs that fulfill our mission Create systems, tools, and resources to ensure that our Speech team provides meaningful services to our students that result in true progress. Collaborate with the AAC specialist, SPED Teachers, BCBAs, and a multidisciplinary team. Communicate effectively with all staff at Summa Academy and families. Maintain student records and prepare reports as specified by Summa Academy. Prepare written evaluations and reports. Effectively assess and provide feedback on present levels and IEP goals. Remain current concerning knowledge of therapeutic and special issues. Prioritize and schedule work, meet schedules and timelines.

Actively support the organization's mission, vision, values and goals Follow all policies/procedures relative to implementing Specialized Academic Instruction Follow and uphold all Summa Academy policies and procedures as outlined in the handbook, policies and procedure documents and any additional communications with regards to policies and procedures Promote a learning environment that allows for individual differences and respect for the dignity and worth of each student Establish and maintain cooperative and collaborative working relationships with those contacted in the performance of required duties. Desired Education and Qualifications Speech-Language Pathology Services Credential Clinical Rehabilitative Services Credential (language, speech, hearing).) Previous 2-year experience working with children, ABA, or Autism related field, preferred Knowledge Skills, & Abilities Maintain student performance data and documentation. Exercise independent judgment and problem-solving skills related to specific areas of responsibility Utilize specialized communication systems and devices as required Embody Summa Academy's core values: Students First, Excellence, Joy, Integrity, and Equity. Actively support Summa Academy's mission, vision, values, and goals. Support quality improvement efforts by complying with company initiatives and identifying opportunities to improve efficiency. Follow and uphold all Summa Academy's policies outlined in the handbook, and procedural documents Carry out all responsibilities in accordance with the applicable laws. Provide leadership and management to ensure that the core values are always put into practice. •
Work Environment & Physical Demands:
The position typically operates on-site, in-person, in a school environment with business hours, Monday-Friday, 8:00-5:00 pm. The employee may be required to intervene and de-escalate physical and emotional outbursts by students, including such behaviors as kicking, spitting, hitting, scratching, biting, running, and cursing; the employee must be able to run quickly for brief spurts. While performing the duties and responsibilities of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear, stand, move and walk at a brisk pace, sit, and use hands and arms to handle, feel and reach. The position requires the ability to accompany students anywhere on school premises, including supporting with toileting and other basic needs The employee is occasionally required to stoop or kneel and occasionally lift and move up to 50 pounds.
