QUALIFICATIONS
Education/Certification Bachelor's Degree and Speech/Language Pathology Assistant Certification Shall possess the necessary authorization required by the Colorado Department of Education or be endorsed in the appropriate areas accepted by the Colorado Department of Education in lieu of such authorization.
PREFERRED
: Clinical experience preferred
ADDITIONAL EXPECTATIONS
Knowledge about communication processes and basic human communication and disorder including: Anatomy/Physiology and speech science; Phonetics; Language development; Speech Disorders (Phonology, Voice, Fluency, Motor Speech); Language Disorders; Audiological evaluation; Aural rehabilitation; Bioacoustics/voice/speech science and clinical processes Knowledge about SLPA services delivery including competence in: The roles and limitations of SLPA responsibilities and need for supervision Use of appropriate verbal and written language in interactions with students, teachers/professionals Follows oral and written direction including implementation of lesson plans; learning activities, and designated intervention goals or objectives in specified sequence under the direction of the supervising SLP Does not engage in administration of standardized assessments or any interpretation there of parent counseling and/or decision-making regarding services delivered. Collects data and prepares materials and performs other duties including implementation of services Assist the SLP with screenings and report any data collected directly to the SLP Assist with informal documentation as directed by the SLP Provide descriptive behavioral observations and documentation/data collection for the purpose of reporting progress on IEP goals and objectives. Support the SLP in other ways (record keeping, completing forms etc.) Be knowledgeable about ethical practice and maintaining appropriate relationships with children/students, families, teachers, and related service professionals and can: Show respect and maintaining confidentiality of all information pertaining to students, families Behave in accordance with educational policies and procedures Respect cultural values and differences Request assistance from the supervising SLP as needed Recognize own professional limitations and performs within the boundaries of training and job responsibilities Does not represent self as an
