REQUIREMENTS
: Connecticut Certification as a Speech and Language Pathologist (061)
RESPONSIBILITIES
: Administering and interpreting formal assessments to determine eligibility for special education services. Observing students in the classroom setting to assess how communication impacts their social and academic performance. Develop and implement measurable, long-term, and short-term goals tailored to each student's specific needs. Providing direct instruction to improve speech/sound production, language processing, and social communication (pragmatics) Training students on Augmentative and Alternative Communication devices (such as speech-generating tablets or picture boards) for non-verbal or minimally verbal learners Pushing into the general education classroom to help students apply communication skills in real-time academic settings. Meeting with families to provide resources and activities that carry over speech goals into the home environment.
