What they do
A Speech Language Pathologist diagnoses and treats speech, language, and swallowing disorders in patients with a variety of conditions. Helps patients improve their ability to make sounds or use language, or develop non-spoken means of communication. May specialize in working with patients of a certain age group, or treat speech problems resulting from a condition such as a stroke or cleft palate. Works in schools, hospitals and other healthcare facilities and works closely with physicians, psychologists, social workers, and other therapists.

Days The community you'll be caring for: AdventHealth New Smyrna 401 PALMETTO ST, New Smyrna Beach, 32168 The role you'll contribute: Provides speech therapy evaluations and treatments to patients to facilitate and maximize functioning level as prescribed by physician. Includes the identification, prevention, remediation, and rehabilitation of patients who have impairments, functional limitations, disabilities or changes in physical function, psychosocial abilities, activities of daily living and health status resulting from injury, diseases or other causes. The value you'll bring to the team: Conducts patient assessments. Performs a medical record review on all patients prior to the initial intervention which leads to diagnostic classification or referral to another practitioner. This examination includes history, systems review and tests and measurements. Performs an evaluation and makes independent clinical judgments based on the data gathered from the examination. Synthesizes all findings from the history, systems review, and tests and measurements to establish the speech/language diagnosis, prognosis and plan of care. The expertise and experiences you'll need to succeed: Minimum qualifications : Master's level graduate of a Speech/Language Pathology program Current Florida Speech Therapy licensure, or provisional licensure required MBSSImP certification within 90 days of hire Preferred qualifications: Interpretation of video fluoroscopic/MBSSI studies Dysphagia experience Certification of Clinical Competence by the American Speech & Hearing Association (ASHA) Certification of Clinical Competence in Barium Swallow/video fluoroscopic studies (MBSImP)Job Types:
