A Speech Language Pathologist diagnoses and treats speech, language, and swallowing disorders in patients with a variety of conditions. Helps patients improve their ability to make sounds or use language, or develop non-spoken means of communication. May specialize in working with patients of a certain age group, or treat speech problems resulting from a condition such as a stroke or cleft palate. Works in schools, hospitals and other healthcare facilities and works closely with physicians, psychologists, social workers, and other therapists.

Job Description
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, TRAINING 1.
Graduate of an accredited college or university with a master's degree in speech-language pathology required. 2. Active license to practice speech language pathology in the state of anticipated employment, free of disciplinary action required. 3. Active Certificate of Clinical Competency in Speech-Language Pathology (CCC-SLP) from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA), free of disciplinary action - OR - Speech Language Pathology Clinical Fellow (SLP-CFs) to be considered on a case-by-case basis (provided proper supervision can be afforded to the CF) required. 4. At least one year of experience in a hospital setting. 5. Current BLS for healthcare provider's certification upon hire and maintain current. Pay Transparency Saint Joseph Hospital - Elgin offers competitive compensation and a reasonable compensation estimate for this role is $43.52. The exact starting compensation to be offered will be determined at the time of selecting an applicant for hire, in which a wide range of factors will be considered, including but not limited to, skillset, years of applicable experience, education, credentials and licensure.
