Job Description

Company Overview Knox County Nursing Home has been dedicated to providing compassionate and innovative care since 1865. Our facility offers a comprehensive range of services, including physical, occupational, and speech therapy, with a focus on person-centered care for residents of all ages and needs. Job Overview We are seeking a dedicated and energetic Speech-Language Pathologist (PRN) to join our team. In this role, you will provide specialized speech therapy services to residents. The ideal candidate will possess strong clinical skills, a passion for patient care, and experience working with geriatric and outpatient populations in this healthcare setting.

Director of Rehab Qualifications:
1. Graduate of accredited university with Doctorate, MA, MS, or BS in Speech Language Pathology recognized by the ASHA. 2. Holds a current and valid license in the state or can practice through priveleges of Compact Act , as indicated. 3. Is not an excluded individual by the OIG or other Federal/State agency. 4. State continuing education requirements are being met to ensure re-licensure.
Job Responsibilities:
1. Provide direct, indirect, or consultative services as per scope of practice in State Practice Acts. 2. Ensure MD orders are obtained for eval, treatment, re-certification and discharge. 3. Provide screen and/or comprehensive evaluations using standardized or non-standardized tests, document results, interpret findings. 4. Develop plan of care consistent with best practice guidelines, including short/long term goals, frequency, duration, and treatment interventions/modalities. 5. Provide comprehensive treatment utilizing modalities/interventions, monitor patients' response and modify treatment, as indicated, adhering to all contraindications and precautions. 6. Complete patient's daily documentation, weekly progress, re-evaluations/re-certifications, and discharge accurately and contemporaneously utilizing designated forms/timelines and state/federal guidelines. All other tasks or documentation required by the company (screens) in a timely fashion. 7. Document all forms required by client facility (MOS, QAPI, Joint Commission documentation) timely. Participate in facility and company meetings/committees, as required. 8. Complete billing/coding accurately and ethically, as per payer reimbursement guidelines. Bill only for services rendered. 9. Schedule patients timely, cover other therapist caseloads in absence, as needed. Be available to travel within reasonable distances, if needed, for care coverage. 10. Adhere to treatment efficiency expectations and demonstrate good time management and job task completion. 11. Supervise CF, junior staff, students as per supervision guidelines in State Practice Acts, observing ratios, responsibilities and limitations. 12. Abide by the company code of ethics, patient confidentiality, patients' federal rights, professional conduct expectations and maintain professional relationships with patients' families, co-workers, facility staff and a positive work attitude always. 13. Comply with all company policies and procedures ( ie., lunch, overtime) adhering to scheduled hours, and project a positive work attitude always. 14. Participate in mandated training and education, provide in-services, when needed, for rehab team, facility and/or healthcare community. 15. Actively participate in quality improvement/assurance activities and practice in accordance with all state and federal laws and regulations. 16. Other duties as assigned
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Employee should be able to transfer patients, push, pull bend, reach, stoop, work at different levels, climb steps, transport patients and perform treatment and bed/table level. Employee should also be able to drive, sit, stand, walk for prolonged period of time. Employee should be knowledgeable in and exercise good body mechanics during patient treatment. Employee will need to be compliant with all mandatory vaccines/inoculations and medical tests deemed necessary by facility, state/federal and/or accrediting body requirements and be compliant with all infection control methods and policies. Employee is fit to work without limitations.
