May specialize in working with patients of a certain age group, or treat speech problems resulting from a condition such as a stroke or cleft palate. Works in schools, hospitals and other healthcare facilities and works closely with physicians, psychologists, social workers, and other therapists.

Responsibilities Conduct comprehensive evaluations of clients' speech, language, voice, fluency, cognitive-communication, and swallowing functions using standardized assessments and clinical observations. Develop personalized treatment plans based on assessment results, client needs, and evidence-based practices. Implement targeted therapy interventions to improve speech clarity, language comprehension, social communication skills, voice quality, and swallowing safety. Collaborate with families, caregivers, educators, and healthcare professionals to ensure cohesive support and effective therapy strategies. Monitor progress regularly through ongoing assessments and adjust treatment plans accordingly to maximize client outcomes. Maintain detailed documentation of evaluations, treatment sessions, progress notes, and discharge summaries in compliance with regulatory standards. Stay current with advances in speech-language pathology by participating in professional development activities and applying new techniques as appropriate. Requirements A valid license or certification as a Speech-Language Pathologist from the relevant licensing board or authority. Training in AAC and Oralfacial Myofunctional Therapy is required. Infant/Toddler feeding skills preferred. Clinic uses nervous system regulation focused interventions, co-treating with OTs. Caseload varies from pre/post frenulum releases, general speech/language delays, communication device assessment and management. Proven experience in speech therapy across diverse populations or settings is preferred. Strong knowledge of physiology related to speech production and swallowing functions. Familiarity with medical terminology relevant to communication disorders and healthcare documentation. Solid understanding of anatomy related to the vocal apparatus, respiratory system, and neurological pathways involved in speech and swallowing. Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to engage clients effectively and build trusting relationships.
