Job Description:
Job Summary Responsible for independently evaluating, diagnosing, and treating patients with communication, cognitive, voice, and swallowing disorders using evidence-based practices. Develops and implements individualized therapy plans to improve patient function, safety, and quality of life. Demonstrates advanced clinical competence in a variety of settings and serves as a resource for interdisciplinary collaboration. Provides education to patients, families, and caregivers, ensuring understanding and participation in therapy goals. Maintains compliance with professional, ethical, and regulatory standards while contributing to departmental quality improvement and mentoring initiatives. Essential Functions
  • Performs comprehensive evaluations of speech, language, cognitive-communication, voice, and swallowing disorders using clinical and instrumental diagnostic tools.
  • Develops and implements individualized treatment plans that address patient-specific needs and support measurable functional outcomes.
  • Demonstrates advanced clinical reasoning in managing complex or comorbid communication and swallowing disorders.
  • Provides skilled therapeutic interventions, including compensatory strategies, restorative exercises, and use of assistive communication devices.
  • Educates patients, families, and caregivers on communication techniques, swallowing safety, and home exercise programs to support ongoing progress.
  • Collaborates with physicians, nurses, dietitians, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate care and optimize patient outcomes.
  • Participates in interdisciplinary rounds, case conferences, and discharge planning to ensure comprehensive service delivery.
  • Maintains accurate, timely, and compliant documentation, coding, and billing for all patient encounters.
  • Assists in training, mentoring, and orientation of students, new staff, and rehabilitation team members.
  • Participates in quality improvement, program development, and professional development activities to enhance patient care and departmental performance.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Education Requirement Bachelor's degree in communication sciences and disorders, speech-language pathology, or a related field Master's degree in speech-language pathology, communication sciences and disorders, or a related field is preferred Experience Requirement 2-3 years of experience An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. All experience must be paid and in the same related field. Part-time and PRN experience will be prorated based on hours worked per week. Volunteer work and internships for academic credit are not counted. Certifications & Licensures Speech-Language Pathology (SLP) license Valid Certified or in the process of Certified with the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association, Basic Life Support (BLS) Certified required within 90 days of the hire date Working Conditions A.
