A Speech Language Pathologist diagnoses and treats speech, language, and swallowing disorders in patients with a variety of conditions. Helps patients improve their ability to make sounds or use language, or develop non-spoken means of communication. May specialize in working with patients of a certain age group, or treat speech problems resulting from a condition such as a stroke or cleft palate. Works in schools, hospitals and other healthcare facilities and works closely with physicians, psychologists, social workers, and other therapists.

Job Description
JOB SUMMARY
Setting:
Hospital Outpatient Rehab 85% evaluation and treatment (mixture of adults and pediatrics), Flexibility to float to Acute and Swing Bed evaluation and treatment 15% Evaluate/assess the needs of referred pediatric and adolescent patients in an outpatient therapy clinic setting to formulate treatment plans Offer effective, patient centered services that will assist patients to return with confidence to as much independence as possible with speech, language, and swallowing needs. Organize and conduct a medically prescribed speech therapy program to restore function and prevent disability following disease or injury Help all patients reach their maximum performance and assume a place in society while learning to live withing the limits of their capabilitiesDUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Promote the mission, vision, and values of the organization Provide therapy services defined in treatment plans Work cooperatively with physicians, case managers, and other members of the healthcare team Maintain accurate, timely documentation of therapy services in the medical record Serve as clinical mentor and/or instructor to colleagues Assist with program development and performance improvement for the department Supervise Speech students as needed Perform other related duties as assignedREQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Flexibility to see patients as needed in Outpatient, Acute and Swing Bed areas (all located in the hospital). Team player with excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
