A Speech Language Pathologist diagnoses and treats speech, language, and swallowing disorders in patients with a variety of conditions. Helps patients improve their ability to make sounds or use language, or develop non-spoken means of communication. May specialize in working with patients of a certain age group, or treat speech problems resulting from a condition such as a stroke or cleft palate. Works in schools, hospitals and other healthcare facilities and works closely with physicians, psychologists, social workers, and other therapists.

Iberia Medical Center (IMC) in New Iberia, LA is seeking a team member who will help advance our vision to be the premier hospital of choice for patients, physicians and employees. Our new employees experience opportunities to learn and grow while caring for their families, friends and neighbors. IMC is currently looking for a Speech Therapist to join our team on a PRN basis. Under the general supervision of the Director of Rehab Services, the Speech Therapist will be responsiblefor administration, management and direct application of Speech/LanguagePathology treatments and modalities asprescribed by a referring physician in the hospital's inpatient, and outpatientsettings. The Speech Therapist evaluates, plans,directs and treats all patients referred to speech/language Pathology. Provides treatments to restore function andprevent disability following disease or injury. Assists patients to obtain maximum performance and function in societywhile learning to live a routine "normal" life within the constraints of theirdisability.
QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION/LICENSURE//TRAINING & EXPERIENCE:
Minimum of a Masters Degree in SpeechPathology from an approved school. Current valid SLP Licensure in Louisiana, or a temporary permit granted bystate board. Successful completion of long termclinical rotations in inpatient and outpatient environments from an accredited ST school, or one year ofrecent experience in inpatient or outpatient practice.

Evaluate & Treat patients Monitor and assess patients Supervise delivery of treatment topatients Reassess patients Assist Director of rehab withdevelopment and maintenance of Speech policies and procedures Assist with scheduling of patients Documentation of patient care Assist with daily operations ofoutpatient and inpatient rehab services
