The Department of Developmental Services (DDS) would like to announce the availability of a full-time Speech and Language Pathologist II position working in the Northeast Region for Northeast Residential Services. This position is responsible for the overall day to day management of the group home including supervision of all staff and individuals as assigned. Incumbent of this position evaluates individual skillsand needs forcommunicationand dysphagia disorders, develops, conducts and/or oversees the provision of treatmentprograms, consults with primary caregivers andprofessionals, provides in-service training andperformsrelatedwork as required.
The basic purpose is to provide oroverseespeech andlanguagepathology and dysphagiatreatmentto individualsliving in Northeast Residential State operated homes Duties and Responsibilities (these duties are a general summary and not all inclusive):
- Evaluatesindividuals'needsforcommunicationtherapy byformaland informal testprocedures.
Interpretstesting resultsfordevelopment offunctional therapy, habilitativeorrehabilitativeprograms.
- Evaluates individuals' swallowing status by performing clinical bedside swallowing evaluation and oral peripheral examination. Interpret results for treatmentprograms.
- Plans and conducts treatmentby developing, selecting and utilizing methods and techniques of communication and dysphagiatherapy;by participating in support teams and incorporating speech and language and dysphagia services into individual treatmentplans;by selecting appropriateremedial equipment andmaterials; and by consulting with designers and providers of adaptive and augmentative equipment toenable individuals to resolve communicationdisorders.
- Maintains documentationon individual services following professional standards and facility/regulationguidelines andmandates.
- Provides in-service training to professional and non-professionalsupport team members, including families, for carryover of role-released services.
- Procures, maintains inventory of,and distributes materials related tocommunicationdisorders (may include ensuring thatbasic materials and equipmentrelatedtodysphagiamanagementareavailable for individuals'use.)
- Performs other job duties as needed

Minimum Entrance Requirements:
Applicants must have at least one year, after licensure, of full-time, or equivalent part-time, professional experience in speech-language pathology/therapy in a recognized public or private agency or organization.
Special Requirements:
Possession of a current and valid Speech-Language Pathologist license issued by the Massachusetts' Board of Registration for Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology. Based on assignment, possession of a current and valid Massachusetts Motor Vehicle Operator's license may be required. Salary placement is determined by a combination of factors, including the candidate's years of directly related experience and education, and alignment with our internal compensation structure as set forth by the Human Resources Division's Hiring Guidelines.
