Special Education Director /Building Principal Job Summary:
The Speech-Language Pathologist provides assessment, diagnosis, and treatment for students with communication disorders, including speech, language, voice, and fluency impairments. The SLP works collaboratively with educators, families, and other school staff to support students' access to the curriculum and success in the school environment.Key Responsibilities:
Assessment & Diagnosis Conduct comprehensive evaluations to identify speech, language, and communication disorders. Interpret assessment results and prepare written reports in compliance with federal, state, and district guidelines. Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings to determine eligibility for special education services. Intervention & Therapy Develop and implement individualized treatment plans (IEPs) based on student needs. Provide direct and indirect therapy services in individual and group settings. Use evidence-based practices and culturally responsive approaches to therapy. Collaboration & Consultation Collaborate with teachers, support staff, and families to integrate communication goals into the classroom environment. Provide consultation and training to staff on strategies that support speech and language development. Communicate regularly with parents/guardians regarding student progress. Documentation & Compliance Maintain accurate and timely records of services, progress notes, and IEP documentation. Ensure compliance with IDEA, Section 504, and state regulations. Participate in IEP meetings, progress reviews, and re-evaluations. Professional Development & Advocacy Stay current with best practices, research, and continuing education requirements. Advocate for students' communication needs within the school setting.Qualifications:
Education & Licensure Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited program. Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP) from ASHA preferred. Department of Education certification/licensure for school-based practice Skills & Competencies Knowledge of child development, speech/language disorders, and learning differences. Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills. Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team. Cultural competence and the ability to support diverse learners.Work Environment:
School setting, PreK-8. May require travel between schools within the district.Similar remote jobs
