McFall Elementary Speech and Language Pathologist Position Summary:

Work within a school system to support students with a wide range of communication disorders and challenges. Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and parents to provide specialized services that promote effective communication and academic success.

Qualifications:

1. Master's degree in Speech and Language Pathology 2. Michigan license to practice Speech and Language Pathology 3. Understanding of the state and federal special education rules and regulations 4. Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively interact with students, parents, colleagues, and administrators 5. Strong understanding of child development and age-appropriate teaching methods 6. Proficiency with educational technology and software

Job Responsibilities:

1. Conduct comprehensive assessments to identify communication disorders and determine the specific needs of students. 2. Administer standardized tests and use informal observations to assess speech, language, voice, and fluency skills. 3. Collaborate with teachers and parents to gather information about students' communication abilities in various academic and social contexts. 4. Participate in IEP team meetings to contribute to the development of individualized education plans for students. 5. Provide one-on-one or group therapy sessions to students with speech and language disorders. 6. Offer support for students with augmentative and alternative communication devices when necessary. 7. Regularly assess and document students' progress towards their communication goals. 8. Adjust therapy plans as needed to ensure continued progress. 9. Collaborate with teachers, special education staff, and other professionals to support students' communication needs in the classroom. 10. Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of assessments, therapy sessions, progress notes, and IEP documentation. 11. Engage in ongoing professional development to stay current with best practices and district initiatives. 12. Attend staff meetings and collaborate with colleagues to improve instructional strategies. 13. Other duties as assigned by the administration.
