A Speech Language Pathologist diagnoses and treats speech, language, and swallowing disorders in patients with a variety of conditions. Helps patients improve their ability to make sounds or use language, or develop non-spoken means of communication. May specialize in working with patients of a certain age group, or treat speech problems resulting from a condition such as a stroke or cleft palate. Works in schools, hospitals and other healthcare facilities and works closely with physicians, psychologists, social workers, and other therapists.

Job Description
- Master's degree.
- State of Michigan license to function as a Speech/Language Pathologist.
- Background and knowledge of early intervention services and working with students with disabilities.
- Experience in providing diagnostic evaluations.
- Able to work as a member of a team and contribute to the agency vision and goals.
- Positive leadership skills.
- Must complete and pass required criminal history checks.
- Ensure proper identification of students eligible by meeting MARSE criteria for speech and language impairments.
- Provide high quality therapy to students, as prescribe in the student's IEPs utilizing the best research and evidence-based practices to support student growth including service delivery models such as direct, consultation or teletherapy.
- Complete comprehensive evaluations for appropriate students using professional best practice standards including the required components for the MET, evaluation reports, and IEPs, providing diagnostic information to committees involved in the placement of students.
- Support the practice of Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) for the building(s) assigned including participation in child study/student intervention team meetings and Intervention Management Team meetings (IMT).
- Prepare and maintain appropriate records and reports, including but not limited to lesson plans and behavioral data.
- Write appropriate goals and objectives for each student within required timelines to support student growth with the whole child in mind.
- Order appropriate materials and testing kits to meet the needs of students.
- Manage and maintain a schedule for provision of service delivery, consultation, evaluation and progress monitoring for assigned students.
- Consult with parents, other ancillary staff, general and special education teachers, and administrators as needed.
- Establish and maintain community agency contacts to support referral process for families in Newaygo County.
- Make appropriate referrals when additional services within the district or outside the district appear necessary.
- Complete timely submission of claims to Medicaid for eligible students.
- Use various software programs for communication and documentation purposes.
- Maintain confidentiality of student information.
- Travel between buildings to provide services.
- Participate in in-service and staff meetings and advocate for professional development that supports growth for the agency.
- Predictable/reliable attendance.
- Act as a resource, if needed, to employees, students and the general public visiting the NC RESA.
- Possess knowledge of NC RESA's organization, mission, and philosophy.
- Perform other duties deemed appropriate by the Director of Intervention & Prevention Services. Relationships and Other Duties The Speech/Language Pathologist shall be directly accountable to the Director of Intervention & Prevention Services and shall demonstrate commitment to the mission of the Newaygo County RESA through:
