Speech-Language Pathology License Full Job Description SUMMARY:
Working in cooperation with teachers, parents, students and administration, shall be responsible for providing diagnostic and intervention services for students with speech and language impairments helping students to access the general education curriculum and environment.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
. Other duties may be assigned. Assesses, screens and evaluates students and effectively interprets results with parents and educational staff, and participates in the eligibility determination process in accordance with federal, state, ISD and local requirements and best practice. Selects and implements appropriate evaluation procedures (including classroom observation, case history information, standardized tests, and informal tests) as determined by student's abilities. Develops and implements appropriate Individual Education Plans (IEPs) to meet individual needs for students with speech/language impairments. Provides direct and consultative services. Creates and maintains an environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the abilities of the students. Collaborates with classroom teachers and other school staff members to implement therapy by suggestions for the student's daily activities. Creates an organized system for evaluating student progress on goals and objectives and modifies goals and objectives as needed. Complies with all Medicaid requirements for school-based claiming Participates Professional Learning Communities (PLC) Maintains and submits information/records including student progress and goal reporting Implements and complies with district policies and procedures Provides information, support, and counseling to parents and families when appropriate Assists in proper referrals of individuals to agencies and specialists in the community Evidence of a positive attitude and human relationship skills Likes children regardless of age, ability or background Has an appreciation for diversity Evidence of high standards of ethics, honesty, and integrity in personal and professional matters Excellent team and interpersonal skills Performs related duties as assigned by the administration in accordance with school district policies and procedures Bilingual in Spanish preferred

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

EXPERIENCE
Master's degree in speech and language pathology. Bilingual Spanish Preferred.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
State of Michigan Certification as Speech Pathologist
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES RELATED TO CULTURAL COMPETENCE AND EQUITY
Knowledge/awareness of own cultural identity and how this influences behavior, and desire to learn about the cultural identity of others. MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables. OTHER SKILLS and
ABILITIES
Ability to apply knowledge of current research and theory to instructional programs; ability to plan and implement lessons based on division and school objectives and the needs and abilities of students to whom assigned. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, peers, parents and community; ability to speak clear and concisely in written or oral communication.
