TITLE:
SPEECH LANGUAGE PATHOLOGIST QUALIFICATIONS
MN licensure as a Speech Language Pathologist. Certificate of Clinical Competence, preferred. Experience with providing speech and language services in a variety of school-based settings and service models, preferred. Knowledgeable in appropriate assessment procedures and tools. Evidence of good written and oral communication skills. Ability to operate, instruct and integrate a variety of technology tools into therapy with students.

Assistant Director of Student Support Services
JOB GOALS
Provide screening, assessment and program development, as well as implement speech/language services to special education students, birth to 21.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES
Develops and implements pre-referral interventions for students to assist in establishing a need and possible assessment in the area of speech/language. Administers formal and informal (ongoing and curriculum-based) assessments along with obtaining additional diagnostic information from appropriate persons and records. Analyzes and interprets information to make recommendations regarding the need for speech/language services. Identifies students with speech and/or language needs and provides programming based on their IEP. Complies with evaluations standards and determines eligibility for services based on the criteria set forth by the Minnesota Department of Education. Writes technically adequate evaluation reports, IEPs and progress reports which clearly and succinctly document eligibility for services, services provided, student progress and discharge from therapy. Completes required due process procedures within mandated time frames to include evaluations and Individual Education Plans (IEPs). Plans and implements evidence based interventions that support students' speech/language goals and objectives using a variety of service delivery models, including classroom intervention, consultation/collaboration and pull-out services as appropriate to meet student needs in the least restrictive environment. Modifies therapeutic instructional approaches, service and outcomes based on student response, data gathered during therapy and re-evaluation. Participates in and collaborates with the multidisciplinary team regarding eligibility issues, Individual Education Plan (IEP) development, consultation services and service delivery models to best meet the needs of all students. Collects data towards progress of students' goals and objectives and communicates progress to students' parents. Provides consultation to parents, teachers, and related service providers in regards to speech and language development, student needs and student progress. Engages in continuing education and professional growth activities related to speech and language and education. Consult with parents, teachers, and related service providers to program for students in need of speech/language services. Complete the necessary tasks for the district to seek reimbursement from medical assistance or Minnesota Care for IEP services provided by the district. Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned the Director of Special Education or designee.

As per teachers' collective bargaining agreement.
