Job Description

Description Methodist Senior Services is seeking a compassionate and motivated Speech-Language Pathologist to join our experienced rehabilitation team in a Skilled Nursing Facility setting. As a faith-based organization, we are committed to providing exceptional, patient-centered care while fostering a supportive and collaborative work environment. This is an excellent opportunity for an SLP looking for flexible scheduling and the support of an experienced interdisciplinary team dedicated to improving the lives of older adults. The Speech Language Pathologist evaluates and treats patients in accordance with orders from a physician through use of therapeutic procedures designed to address deficits in speech, language, hearing, swallowing and cognition and improve independence, safety and quality of life. The Speech Language Pathologist participates as a member of the interdisciplinary team providing support and information within the area of speech therapy. Requirements Preferred Qualifications Prefer minimum one (1) year experience in geriatric rehabilitation. Minimum Qualifications Graduate of an approved program in Speech/Language Pathology obtaining a Master's degree. Current license/certification in the state of Mississippi. Certification by the American Speech Language/Hearing Association. Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills. Adequate computer skills in order to complete required job duties and computerized documentation. Demonstrated competency in applying the principles, methods, materials and equipment used in speech therapy. Knowledge of accreditation standards and compliance requirements. Physical Requirements Ability to walk, bend, drive, stand, sit and reach constantly during an eight (8) hour day/shift. Ability to speak and hear to understand and give directions. Visual and auditory acuity sufficient to assess and monitor patient/resident needs, maintain accurate records, understand directions and recognize people. Fine and gross motor skills. Ability to push wheeled equipment throughout the facility and in the community. Work endurance ability to work eight (8) hour days/shifts. Ability to participate in sustained activity for up to three and one-half (3.5) hours at a time. Reading and comprehension skills for analyzing reports, charts and correspondence. Possesses highly developed communication and problem-solving skills.
Additional Information Working Conditions:
Typical therapy clinic environment. Strong organizational skills in order to effectively maintain multiple projects simultaneously. Requires creativity as well as the ability to work independently. Ability to be discreet and maintain confidential information.
