Job Description

SUMMARY:
The speech-language pathologist provides intervention to students for speech, language, social communication, and cognitive-communication disorders. The speech language pathologist assesses students, develops an IEP for goals and objectives, and ensures evaluations, treatment plans, and services are aligned with school, state, and federal guidelines.
SPECIFIC JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Provides screening to identify speech/language barriers of eligible children, as referred. 2. Provides hearing screenings for Pre-kindergarten, kindergarten, and first graders, as mandated by the State Department of Education. 3. Provides speech/language assessments and hearing screenings for children referred as possibly having speech/language and/or hearing impairments. 4. Provides speech/language assessments and hearing screenings for students referred for comprehensive assessment. 5. Provides screening and assessments for Child Find. 6. Completes all reports, records, and assignments accurately and punctually. 7. Assists in referring children to agencies and specialists in the community when appropriate. 8. Implements a therapy program for students eligible for speech/language therapy. 9. Provides speech/language and related information and support to parents and families of students with speech/language disabilities. 10. Conducts IEP reviews at least annually for each speech child on his/her roster. 11. Provides in-service education and consults with teachers and staff on speech and language disabilities. 12. Monitors progress of students' IEP goals biweekly. 13. Attends and/or conducts MET, eligibility, TST, and IEP meetings. 14. Complies with MDE timelines for reporting. 15. Reports regularly and punctually to assigned work location(s) and notifies supervisor or designee of impending absence in a timely manner and all assigned duties.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
1.
Certification in:
Speech/ Language Clinician (215); Speech Associates (216).
