JOHNSTON COUNTY PUBLIC SCHOOLS JOB DESCRIPTION POSITION
Lead Speech Language Pathologist
LOCATION
Exception Children Programs

Assistant Superintendent of Exceptional Programs
QUALIFICATIONS AND ATTRIBUTES
Master's Degree in Speech-Language Pathology required. Must hold ASHA Certification of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology (CCC-SLP) and valid license from the North Carolina Board of Examiners for Speech-Language Pathologists and Audiologists. Minimum 5 years experience working as an SLP in a school district preferred. Comprehensive knowledge of federal and state laws and policies governing services for students with disabilities.

ECATS. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Provide guidance related to speech language services to school-based and district staff. Consult with service providers and school staff to problem solve issues related to speech language services. Review and ensure equitable distribution of SLP caseloads across the district. Mentor SLPs, including supervising or assigning supervisors for Clinical Fellowship or Supervised Experience Years. Provide orientation for new SLPs. Schedule, plan, and facilitate SLP meetings. Develop and deliver professional learning and technical assistance for SLPs, school and district staff. Attend Lead meetings sponsored by DPI and disseminate information back to the EC Director and SLPs as appropriate. Order tests, protocols and materials for SLPs. Coordinate extended school year speech-language pathology services. Coordinate and provide leadership to the assistive technology and unique mealtime teams, and other specialty teams as needed. Engage in recruitment and retention activities, including participating in job fairs and interviews for SLP candidates as appropriate. Monitor and ensure timely documentation of services provided to students. Assist with IEP development and attend IEP meetings as required. Develop and coordinate Private School Services Plans. Supervise district-employed SLP assistants, if needed. Review and approve documentation, including service logs, for Medicaid billing. Other duties as assigned.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Must be able to communicate orally and in writing with parents, staff, and community members. Must be able to physically perform the basic life operational functions of fingering, grasping, kneeling, sitting, walking, stooping, reaching, lifting, pushing, pulling, talking, seeing, hearing, and repetitive motion.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
Must possess a valid NC driver's license. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with parents, teachers, students, administrators, community leaders, agency representatives, and others. Ability to develop and compile a variety of records and reports. Must be adaptable to performing under stress and when confronted with emergency situations. Ability to supervise and coordinate a variety of staff, programs, and activities.
