Job Summary:
Speech-Language Pathologists (SLP) evaluate and treat residents and patients with temporary or long-term speech, hearing, swallowing, and cognitive disabilities in compliance with state and federal guidelines. Responsibilities of Speech-Language Pathologists (SLP): Under a physician's direction, provides quality Speech-Language Pathologist services, including evaluating patients, screening, initiating referrals, obtaining data, and following through with the established plan of care. Plans, directs, or conducts rehabilitative treatment programs to restore communicative efficiency of individuals with communication and/or swallowing or cognitive problems. Administers, scores, and interprets specialized hearing and speech tests. Devises special tools and treatments for the specific needs of patients. Instructs residents, families, and caregivers to monitor speech and provide ways to practice new skills. Completes timely documentation including progress notes, screen reports, daily notes, and discharge summaries. Instructs patients as well as family members and staff in goals, progress, and appropriate therapeutic techniques. Ensures compliance with protocols and regulations. Qualifications for Speech-Language Pathologists (SLP): Master of Science degree in Speech-Language Pathology. Current license in Speech Therapy as required by state law. Certification in clinical competency. One-year clinical experience preferred. Experience with cognitive and dysphagia rehabilitation within a skilled nursing facility preferred.
