A Speech Language Pathologist diagnoses and treats speech, language, and swallowing disorders in patients with a variety of conditions. Helps patients improve their ability to make sounds or use language, or develop non-spoken means of communication. May specialize in working with patients of a certain age group, or treat speech problems resulting from a condition such as a stroke or cleft palate. Works in schools, hospitals and other healthcare facilities and works closely with physicians, psychologists, social workers, and other therapists.

Job Description
Full Job Description Requirements :
- Master's Degree or higher in Speech Therapy from an accredited university or college
- Pennsylvania State licensure
- CPR and First Aid Certification
- Completion of specific procedural skills competency
- AHSA Certification
- Licensed in Pennsylvania as
Speech Language Pathologist Duties and Responsibilities:
- o Provide sound speech therapy based and client centered treatment o Evaluate clients in accordance with the diagnosis and prescription o Develop and revise appropriate treatment program to achieve the established goals o Develop and revise rehabilitation goals and treatment objectives as needed o Assure safety of clients and staff during treatment sessions o Monitor patient progress, response to treatments and provide revisions to program as required o Maintain all appropriate documentation with date and signatures.
- o Contact referring physician for clarification or elaboration of treatment orders and recommended changes as indicated o Participate in other related departmental activities such as meetings, clerical duties, and maintenance of inventory care of equipment o Evaluate for, document and obtain necessary adaptive devices (AAC devices etc) o Adapt and maintain speech department related client needs (hearing aids, diets, etc.
Physical Demands:
- On a daily basis, almost constant physical and other interaction with brain injured individuals.
- On a daily basis, approximately 40% of time spent standing, 40% walking, and 20% sitting.
- Occasionally required to lift 100 pounds, carry 20 pounds and push 150 pounds.
- Occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and reach.
- Must be able to speak, hear and see.
