A Speech Language Pathologist diagnoses and treats speech, language, and swallowing disorders in patients with a variety of conditions. Helps patients improve their ability to make sounds or use language, or develop non-spoken means of communication. May specialize in working with patients of a certain age group, or treat speech problems resulting from a condition such as a stroke or cleft palate. Works in schools, hospitals and other healthcare facilities and works closely with physicians, psychologists, social workers, and other therapists.

Job Description

Job Summary Speech language pathologists evaluate patients referred for appraisal of speech, language, voice, fluency, and dysphagia, carry out therapy, as appropriate, communicate results to patients, parents and other professionals, and participate in various Hospital or Community related activities. Evaluates, plans and implements treatment programs for referred patients according to accepted principles and practices of Speech Therapy. Supports all programs in the Rehabilitation Continuum. Maintains working relationships with Hospital leadership, physicians, nurses, case managers, social workers, allied health professionals, ancillary services, and hospital support personnel. Supervised by and reports to Therapy Manager or Senior Therapist. Supervises assistants, aides, and students. #READ #INDTRP #LI-AH1 Qualifications Education Requirements Master's Degree Experience At least 1yr of experience preferred Certification and Licensure PA Speech Language Pathologist License ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech Language Pathology within 90 days of hire Required Skills Computer Skills to include use and navigation
