Job Description

Speech, Language Pathologist

184 Days, 7.75 Hours per day
  • Teaching Contract Position Summary Evaluates, diagnoses, and treats students with communication disorders (speech, language, voice, fluency) that affect their academic and social success. Manage caseloads, create individualized education programs (IEP), deliver therapy, and collaborate with teachers and parents to support students. Key Responsibilities Assessment & Diagnosis
  • Conduct screenings and comprehensive evaluations to identify communication disorders. Intervention & Treatment
  • Develop and implement individualized education programs (IEP) and provide evidence-based, direct therapy for students in group or individual settings. Collaboration
  • Work with teachers, parents, and special education teams to support student literacy, classroom participation, and communication skills. Documentation & Compliance
  • Maintain detailed records of student progress, meet IDEA compliance requirements, and manage documentation and billing. Prevention & Advocacy
  • Participate in Response to Intervention (RTI) teams to provide early intervention services and prevent academic failure.
Conducting one-on-one therapy sessions focusing on speech sounds or language development. Running small-group social language workshops. Collaborating with teachers to modify curriculum materials for a student with communication needs. Participation in IEP meetings with parents and school administrators. Required Skills and Qualifications Education Degree in Speech-Language Pathology or Communicative Disorders Licensure/Certification Valid Indiana State Licensure Skills Strong communication and interpersonal skills for working with children, parents, and staff. Ability to use technology for data management, IEP documentation, and, in some cases, remote service delivery.
Physical Demands:
Must be able to talk, hear, sit, stand, walk, and use hands to handle objects. Occasionally required to lift and/or move up to 20 pounds. Vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
Work Environment:
The work environment is a standard classroom setting with moderate noise levels.
Terms Of Employment:
Length of school year and salary determined by the Wawasee Community School Corporation School Board.
Evaluation:
Performance evaluation will be conducted according to the school district's policies and guidelines.
