Job Description
Certified - Special Education - Speech and Language Pathologist Job Number 4600320200 Start Date Open Date 04/15/2026 Closing Date This position provides diagnostic, remedial, and consultative service for children with communicative disorders; provides consultative services for school personnel regarding children with speech, hearing and language difficulties; operates as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Master's degree in Speech Language Pathology
- Tennessee License with certification in Speech Language Pathology
- Tennessee Teaching License with an endorsement in Speech Language Pathology
- Proficient in the use of computers to include word processing, database and spreadsheet applications
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Ability to establish and maintain cooperative-working relationships with those contacted in the course of work at all levels
- Ability to prepare clear, concise, accurate and complete reports including statistics
- Such alternatives as the Superintendent may find appropriate and acceptable
Job Responsibilities:
1. Directs clinical habilitative educational management for students with disorders of language, speech, and hearing. 2. Evaluates and diagnoses children with speech and language disorder through use of standardized tests techniques and procedures 3. Conveys pertinent information to appropriate personnel 4. Selects children with clinical communicative disorder for enrollment in therapy according to appropriate criteria and by state and federal guidelines 5. Prepares and maintains records and reports as required for compliance with various state, federal, and administrative regulations 6. Identifies student abilities and speech, hearing, and language needs based on the Tennessee State Department of Education guidelines 7. Develops long- and short-term goals and objectives collaboratively with the IEP team 8. Develops a therapy intervention plan that supports the IEP goals, objective/outcomes and implements this plan in appropriate settings and within the curriculum 9. Coordinates the implementation of goals/outcomes with the IEP team with a provision of continuum of services to students 10. Documents findings, actions taken, and/or recommendations made regarding areas of service 11. Maintain records as required by Bartlett City Schools and various state and federal mandates 12. Assists in the development of student transition plans, programs, and goals 13. Refers an individual with communicative disorders to available community agencies when appropriate 14. Provides consultant, resources and supervisory services in program and curriculum planning 15. Develops and implements training opportunities and in-service for educational staff, parents, and administrators 16. Devises a treatment program aimed at improving identified areas of function, as they relate to the student educational needs and the State of Tennessee Curriculum and the curriculum of Bartlett City Schools 17. Attends meetings, trainings, conferences and travels to a variety of work sites within the district, as required, to meet the needs of students 18. Performs such other tasks and assumes such other responsibilities as the principal may assign. The Speech and Language Pathologist maintains a forty-hour (40) workweek and works additional hours as required to carry out all of the duties and responsibilities of the position. This is 10 month position. Physical presence is an essential function of this position.FSLA Status:
