What they do

A Speech Language Pathologist diagnoses and treats speech, language, and swallowing disorders in patients with a variety of conditions. Helps patients improve their ability to make sounds or use language, or develop non-spoken means of communication. May specialize in working with patients of a certain age group, or treat speech problems resulting from a condition such as a stroke or cleft palate. Works in schools, hospitals and other healthcare facilities and works closely with physicians, psychologists, social workers, and other therapists.

Job Description

PRN Speech Language Pathologist Responsibilities and Duties:
Performs initial therapy evaluations of each patient within 72 hours of receipt of referral. Makes opportunities to teach referral sources about determining and recommending appropriate speech and hearing services. Communicates regularly with physicians, patients, families, and health care providers to modify plan of care based on patient needs. Participates in case coordination regularly with staff nurses and physicians, documents appropriately in medical record. Develops treatment plan based on evaluation. Provides appropriate clinical followup by reporting unfavorable signs and symptoms. Manages own schedule with no missed visits or late evaluations due to scheduling errors. Instructs other health team personnel and patient. Plans for discharge.
Qualifications and Skills:
Current Texas Speech Language Pathologist License. Minimum 1 year clinical experience in home health. Current Certification in BSL/CPR Valid Texas Driver's License and Automobile Insurance Knowledge of WellSky EMR software is a plus

Pay Per Visit including mileage reimbursement.
